Last Wednesday...
while in Martha's Vineyard, I celebrated something that few get to commemorate.
Exactly one year ago, July 25th, 2006, the doctor told me that I only had a year left to live before the brain tumor manifested itself by invading and spreading throughout my entire body.
But 366 days later, I'm alive. And not just alive, but living and enjoying and celebrating life.
Doctors are smart- I won't discount that, but thanks to many prayers, thoughts, and my will to live, together we have proven that doctors aren't God and can't always predict the future.

Drew, "Carey" Me To Showase Showdown!
Us desperate housewives know our daytime TV, and were well aware that Bob Barker, host of The Price Is Right, retired las month after 35 seasons (that's 6,482 episodes!) of watching people "come on down!"
Rumors flew through Hollywood speculating that Rosie O'Donnell, George Hamilton and even Jerry Seinfeld were considered possible candidates by producers. But yesterday "official" news was announced that your new host that will ask "What is your bid?" is Drew Carey.
Taping begins early fall.

I Heard It Through The Vineyard...
that Ernie and Paul leave this Sunday to go to Martha's Vineyard, Provincetown, and Boston for a week, something that Ernie's been wanting to do for a very, very long time. Both of them have never been, so if you've been to either P-Town or Martha's Vineyard and have a recommendation of a restaurant or an activity, please drop a note to erniedeomampo@yahoo.com or reply to this blog.
Also let me know if you need me to try and get something up for you- I'll do my best. (No, I will not get you a date.)

Meet My New Friend!
His name is Lou V. He's a pretty unique guy- only 2,000 were made by Louis Vuitton and Visionaire, a company that writes about and pursues art and fashion, uniting them in quarterly "magazines."
Lou's noggin' showcases Vuitton'smulticolore line, and his colorful eyes are from Murakami's collaboration with Vuitton. His pants come from the graffiti collection that Stephen Sprouse did several years back.

My Big News
Okay- it's about time I told you: because of the good news at the doctor's office, Paul and I are going to Australia beginning September 1st. We're working with a realtor in Sydney in hopes of finding a furnished apartment to stay in while we're there. We plan on coming back to the US in early December. More details to follow...

Different "Big" News
While all signs are go for the Sex And The City full-length movie, they are still searching for someone to play the role of Mr. Big. Negotiations with the agent for actor Chris Noth, the original "Big", seem to have hit a possible snag.
I can't imagine anyone else playing Big. He's known by SATC fans everywhere as the only one who can play a loveable, yet sometimes aloof gentleman so well.
If If I was the one who was in charge of finding a replacement actor, I think the only one who could fit such "Big" shoes would be George Clooney.

Where's Ernie Eating?
This is my favorite restaurant, Ted's Montana Grill. I know. (Who's Ted? What's so great about this place?) First of all, it's Ted Turner. Second, they serve bison. (Ew! Sounds gross! You're weird, Ernie!)
Bison, or buffalo meat is first of all, ultra-low in fat:
Beef, Choice- 24 grams of fat
Swordfish- 4 grams of fat
Chicken breast, no skin- 3 grams of fat
Turkey breast, no skin- 2 grams of fat
Bison- 1.84 grams of fat
All per 4 oz. serving, compiled from USDA records.
Second, bison tastes wonderful. It's not gamey or strange-tasting. It's a juicier, tastier meat, even compared to a filet mignon. (My mouth is watering as I type this!)
Ted's serves up awesome and delicious bison burgers, which is the only thing I order, cooked medium, served on an oatie-wheat bun. With lettuce and tomato, and a little A-1 steak sauce, it is to die for. And it's served with some fresh-cut Idaho fries.
If you have a Ted's near you, I highly recommend you going and trying their bison burger for yourself. I go to mine nearly twice a week. I think you'll be quite impressed.
(And let me know when you go- I may try meeting you there.)
BIG NEWS. Huge.
BUT...
Before I spill the beans, I need to get several ducks in a row before I start spreading the news. I'm thinkin' I'll be able to tell you by Friday.
(Sorry I sound like a tease or something, but I'm still coming to terms with it myself.)
Hope you had a good weekend,
Ernie

Sex And The City: The Movie
At least one good movie for Summer 2008?
As reported right here months ago on "Where's Ernie's Head?", the "Sex And The City" full-length movie is moving right along. It's a reality, folks. Click here to read all about the update.
Summer Blahs.
The number of summer movies with good reviews are significantly small this year, leaving me with with only a handful of them worth seeing.
Here's what I've seen as summer draws to a close:
*Spiderman 3
*Ocean's Thirteen
*Live Free Or Die Hard
*Knocked Up
*Transformers
*Ratatouile
My favorite: Knocked Up. We'll see how the summer goes out.

YAY!!
I stared at the doctor after all the polite hellos. He got quiet, looked at me, and said, "Everything appears stable."
I immediately started crying. I got so full of emotion that I just lost it! Quivering and catching my breath, I replied, "Okay, okay, great. That's so relieving to hear!" The other doctor in the room started to cry.
Bottom line: Nothing grew or increased in size, and I am treatment-free for the next three months!
Thank you for thinking of me and keeping me in your prayers, everyone. They were all answered favorably yesterday.

M.R.Yikes.
This morning around 9:30AM, I meet with my doctor to go over the results of the MRI I had last week (I didn't blog about it because I blog enough about MRI's already. Plus, handbags are important too.)
Kinda' nervous, kinda' stressed, but it'll all be over before noon. I don't know what to think honestly. I feel great, I look satisfactory (a tad on the thin side), but as we learned from our mothers, "it's not what's outside that counts. It's what inside that matters."
